Liposuction & Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty - My Experience

This is a video of my experience having liposuction to my abdomine and flanks as well as upper eyelid surgery to remove excess skin.

Liposuction (lipoplasty) is particularly well suited for women and men who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. These localized fat deposits may sometimes be an inherited trait and typically do not respond to dieting or exercise. Liposuction is often the only way to eliminate them.

While it is possible to undergo liposuction at almost any age, you will obtain the best results if your skin still has enough elasticity to achieve a smooth contour following fat removal. When skin is inelastic, as in some older patient, it may not redrape well and a skin tightening procedure may be necessary.

Liposuction may sometimes be used to treat a condition called gynecomastia, or male breast enlargement, which frequently occurs among both teenage and adult males.

Liposuction should not be considered a substitute for overall weight loss, nor is it an effective treatment for cellulite, a condition that gives the skin an uneven, dimpled appearance. Alternatively, treatments may be considered, in some instances, to improve this problem.

Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time, and it can also be done in conjunction with other aesthetic plastic surgery.

You may be a good candidate for liposuction if you have localized excess fat or if you desire contouring in any of the following areas:
Cheeks, jowls,neck, upper arms, breast or chest areas, back, abdomen, waist, hip, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, inner knees, calves and ankles.

Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:
Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
Bags under the eyes
Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye)
Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

While eyelid surgery can be expected to correct certain conditions permanently, you will continue to age naturally. Life-long sun protection will help to maintain your results.

Aging of the face is inevitable. As the years go by, the skin on the face and neck begins to loosen. The jaw line softens into jowls and excess tissue forms at the front of the neck. The rhytidectomy, or facelift, could improve your looks and self-confidence. As with all facial plastic surgery, good health and realistic expectations are prerequisites. Rhinoplasty, which is more commonly known as a 'nose job', is a surgical procedure used to refine and/or reshape the nose. Common changes include modifications in the size and shape of the bridge and/or the tip of the nose.

Smart Lipo (Smart Liposuction)

In February of 2007 at the American Academy of Dermatology meeting in Washington, DC, I was in a seminar which dealt with all aspects of cosmetic surgery and liposuction, in particular. It was announced there that "Smart Lipo", which is the use of a tiny laser on the end of a wire, had finally been approved in the United States by the FDA.
