Common Questions

Is treatment available now?
YES! Our London and Manchester clinics are open and treating patients.
Which areas can be treated?
Our treatments have shown great success in treating: waist, abdomen, thighs and hips and love handles. We can also treat upper arms and calves, neck area and cellulite. Accent is also available for skin smoothing.
As there an age limit?
Patients must be 18 or older. There is no upper age limit.
Does the treatment hurt?
Both Ultrasound and Accent RF are virtually pain-free procedures and require no anaesthetic.
What are the advantages of Ultrasound or Accent over liposuction?
- No need for general or local anaesthetic
- Each treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive
- No downtime – patients can return to normal day to day activities immediately (with liposuction surgery, downtime is usually 7-10 days)
- No risk of infection, scarring, bruising and irregularities
How long does the treatment take?
Each treatment takes 30 minutes to one and a half hours, depending on the treatment area.
How soon will I see results?
Results are visible often immediately with Accent RF or within 1 week of the first session for Ultrasound, but will improve further over the course of treatments. We will assess the final result 4 weeks after completing the final session. Maximum results require 6-8 treatment sessions per area.
Will the effect be long-lasting?
The fat cells treated with Ultrasound, with or without enhancement with Accent RF, will not return or re-grow, so that is a permanent effect. However, the length of time that the body shaping will last for is really in your hands.
How much you eat and how much exercise you take will also affect your long-term body shape. So if you take in more calories than you use, you weight and fat will increase and the permanent removal of fat cells from your treatment will be hidden by your weight gain.
The good news though is that you can use the opportunity of choosing to have treatment to commit to eating sensibly and performing activities, such as exercise and sports, that get your heart beating and muscles working. This can have the effect of enhancing your body reshaping even further. Please remember that having Ultrasound or Accent is not a licence to eat more or exercise less, and the long-term results are in your hands.
What about future weight gain with fat moving to other areas?
This is a common misunderstanding. Following treatment, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed it is gone. Assuming a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return.
Are there any side effects?
Both Ultrasound and Accent RF appear to be extremely safe treatments as they are non-surgical and non-invasive.
Is there any downtime?
None. You can return to work immediately.
What happens after treatment?
You will need to avoid alcohol for 5 days after each treatment because your liver will be busy processing the fat that has been broken down by the therapy. Also try to drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated.
Patient should be advised that following treatment they should maintain a negative calorie intake for 1 week. This will ensure that fat energy released as a result of the treatment is used by the body.
What is the difference between Ultrasound, liposuction surgery and laser lipolysis surgery (SmartLipo)?
1. Ultrasound is a non-surgical, painless approach to disruption of fat cells using selective resonance ultrasound. There is no downtime, bruising, tenderness or requirement to wear compression garments. This can be supplemented by Accent radio-wave therapy for an even greater effect.
2. Laser Lipolysis is a laser surgical procedure using a laser probe inserted into the fat to deliver heat and disrupt the fat cells causing them to melt and break down. Once melted, the fat is removed by the body’s natural drainage processes. It is usually required to wear a compression garment for 2 weeks after the procedure.
3. Liposuction is a surgical operation, usually under general anaesthetic, where fat is sucked out under vacuum through a rigid metal tube inserted repeatedly into the fat area.
