A factual index restricted to information you could verify yourself on a public register. Alphabetical, never a ranking, and currently empty by design.

What the register is

The register is a factual index of UK surgeons practising body contouring, restricted to information that you could look up yourself on a public register or with a regulator. It exists to save you the lookups, and for no other purpose.

It is not a ranking, not a recommendation, not a shortlist and not a review. Entries are alphabetical by surname and there is no way to appear higher, be featured, or be marked in any way. We have not assessed the clinical practice of anyone who appears in it and we never will.

The only things an entry may contain

  • Surgeon name, exactly as recorded on the GMC register
  • GMC reference number
  • Specialty as recorded on the specialist register, and the date of entry to it
  • RCS England cosmetic surgery certification where held, and the areas it covers
  • Regulator registration of the premises where they operate, with the registration reference
  • The regulator's most recent published overall rating for that premises, where one exists
  • Professional association membership, where verifiable on the association's own site

Nothing else may appear. No prose, no photographs, no prices, no claims, no technique names, no testimonials, no awards. Those restrictions are published at commercial terms and they are not waived for anyone.

Current status

The register is open for applications and currently contains no entries We will not populate it with names harvested from elsewhere, and we will not publish an entry until every field in it has been individually verified by us against the relevant public register. An empty register is preferable to an unverified one.
  1. Applications are made through the contact page by the surgeon personally, not by a clinic, an agency or a marketing representative.
  2. We verify each field against the GMC register, the RCS England certification list, the relevant premises regulator and, where claimed, the association's own membership listing.
  3. Any field we cannot verify is omitted. If nothing can be verified, the application is declined and the fee is not taken.
  4. Entries are re-verified annually, and removed immediately if registration lapses or a restriction is recorded.

How to use it, if and when it has entries

Treat it as a starting list of lookups rather than a set of options. An entry tells you that a person is registered, in which specialty, since when, and where they operate. It tells you nothing about whether they are right for you, how they consult, whether they will decline to operate, or what their results look like.

Why the register is deliberately this dull

Because every element that would make a directory more useful to a reader in the ordinary sense, ratings, photographs, descriptions, specialisms, would either be unverifiable or would be supplied by the person paying for the entry.

A directory in this sector that carries provider-supplied descriptions is an advertising channel with an editorial appearance. We would rather publish something narrow and true than something rich and sold.

If that makes the register less appealing than the alternatives, that is the intended consequence.

We email when a procedure record is revised or when UK regulatory guidance changes.
